My Daily Skin Care Routine / January 2016

In recent months, I’ve had huge success with improving my skin and stopping breakouts. I’m very excited about it and ready to continue keeping clear and tackling the red marks acne left behind!

There are a few factors I think heavily contributed to clearing my skin.

1. I stopped using products with SLS.

Sodium lauryl sulfate is a foaming agent added to lots of different soaps and can be irritating for some people. Switching to an SLS-Free toothpaste stopped the little breakouts I used to get around my mouth.

2. I started drinking Spearmint Tea.

THIS IS HUGE. Thanks to my Curology doc, I tried drinking Spearmint tea to see if it would balance my hormones and stop hormonal breakouts. It worked! I can’t recommend trying this enough.

And finally…

3. I simplified my skincare routine.

As an obsessive product lover, this one was hard. I love trying new things but for my skin and wallet’s sake (and at the advice of my sister and Curology dermatologist) I tried simpler products.

That brings me to my skin care routine! I’m officially in love with all these products.

My Morning Routine:

Free & Clear Liquid Cleanser
Paula’s Choice Skin Perfecting 2% BHA Liquid
Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel

My Night Routine:

Cailyn Dissolv’it Makeup Melt Cleansing Balm
Free & Clear Liquid Cleanser
Biologique Recherche Lotion P50 (non-phenol version)
Curology Medication (4% Azelaic Acid, 1% Clindamycin, 4% Niacinamide)
Sebamed Clear Face Care Gel

Every Few Days:

belif Mild and Effective facial scrub
Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay mixed with Apple Cider Vinegar

Drinking Spearmint Tea has become just as much a part of my skincare routine as applying moisturizer. I drink a small cup every night and saw a huge improvement once I started. Read my original post about spearmint tea for hormonal acne, and take a look at the Reddit post I did too.
