I am so excited. I found a foundation that I LOVE. As someone who relies on foundation to cover blemishes and dark marks everyday, this is a life changer. But here’s the thing – to find a foundation I really love, I had to actually create it myself.
A few months ago, I discovered Kevyn Aucoin The Sensual Skin Enhancer. It’s highly pigmented, and the color SX06 is a really, really good match for my skin, according to Sephora’s Color IQ (now that it’s summer I’m using a shade darker, SX08). The Sensual Skin Enhancer isn’t so much a foundation as it is a multi use pigment, and it acts like a heavy duty concealer more than anything.
I was mixing it with a primer sample, but I was frustrated by how long it took to blend in to my skin. I loved the coverage level and color match but I knew I needed to find another solution.
Fast forward to a few months ago. I was playing around with different foundations, and while I really liked what I was using, it made me oily by the end of the day. I didn’t want to spend money on another foundation (or spend the time looking for one) so I turned to what I already had.
How I Use My Foundation
On the back of my hand, I mix a few drops of argan oil and roughly half of a grain of rice size of the Sensual Skin Enhancer. If you’re new to this product, I would start at an even tinier amount – it’s that strong. I blend them together using the handle of an eye liner brush, and apply with a flat top brush or a beauty blender.
I apply a light amount over my whole face, and go back over blemished areas with more product.
This stuff stays on your skin all day, and I’m less oily than ever before now that I’ve started using argan oil. I live in a humid client, but this foundation doesn’t budge.
Because it’s so pigmented, you don’t need to use a lot. In the end, you have less product on your face (it feels weightless) but better coverage. Plus, you get to feel good about using argan oil since it’s so healthy for your skin.
