In the Innovation Curve, I’m not what you would call an ‘Early Adopter.’ I didn’t have an iPhone until 2011. I entirely skipped over the FroYo craze. When it comes to beauty products, my behavior is the same.
This is why it should be no surprise that I first tried the cult Kiehls Creme de Corps Body Lotion only a few months ago. It wasn’t even the reason I placed a Kiehls order–I had heard about their Musk Eau De Toilette and needed to have it (my reasons for making purchases lean towards primal). I snuck a sample sized bottle of the Creme de Corps into my cart to hit the free shipping quota, and then added another as my Free Sample with Every Order.
After a few months of intermittent use, I can’t give a solid answer. Is it worth the semi expensive price? Perhaps. It soaks in wonderfully and leaves skin healthy. After applying it, I can slip under the covers without feeling like I’m attracting every lint or crumb I touch. Does Creme de Corps improve my skin better than my beloved Cetaphil cream? I’m not sure. (Kiehls makes me feel luxiourous at least).
I did walk away from the order with a new love, though, and it wasn’t the Musk. I slipped in soy milk and honey variety of the lotion, as one of the previously mentioned body lotion samples.
It. Smells. So. Good.
With the moisturizing properties of the original in a thick, whipped soufflé formula, it’s already a winner. But what pushes this moisturizer from participant ribbon to gold is the warm, creamy, cozy-sweater-on-a-breezy-beach scent. I don’t know what soy milk smells like, nor would I like to emanate the scent, but the combination of it plus honey results in a not quite coconut, hardly vanilla scent. During summer days it smells of nostalgic sunscreen grownup, and during cool days like a warm embrace. You’ll sneak smells of your forearm, guaranteed.
The Creme de Corps Soy Milk & Honey Whipped Body Butter sells in a 12oz jar for $48, making it slightly pricer than the original. It’s all worth it when you realize you feel silky smooth and smell good enough to eat.
