Review: ColourPop Lip Products & Swatches

It’s time to bulk up your makeup storage, welcome to the world of ColourPop (welcome back if you’ve already been initiated).

I’m a relative newcomer to ColourPop but I completely get the hype. It’s affordable, the products are impressive, and I turn giddy just scrolling through the pages and page of lip colors.

I’ve purchased a few Super Shock Cheek Colors and Gel Liners, but today I’m focusing on ColourPop’s lip products. Their collection of colors, textures, and formulas is huge–it’s honestly overwhelming. Luckily most of them are priced at $5-$6, so you can try out a few for the price of one higher end lip product.

From L to R: (Lippie Pencils) Bossy, Clique, (Lippie Stix) Button, I Heart This, (Ultra Matte) Mama, Creeper, (Ultra Metallic) Kween

ColourPop Lippie Pencils in Bossy & Clique

Top: Clique, Bottom: Bossy

The lip liner is my favorite of the lip formulas I own. It has better staying power than the Lippie Stix, but it’s easier to control that the liquid lipsticks. I own it in Clique and Bossy.

I pick up Bossy more than Clique. They are both bright reds, but Bossy is a classic, blue-toned red while Clique is orangey.

ColourPop Lippie Stix in I Heart This & Button

Top: I Heart This, Bottom: Button

I Heart This was my first ColourPop lip product, and it’s still one of my favorites. I bought Button looking for a pinky nude, but I only ever wear it if I’m mixing it with another color. The Lippie Stix have the least amount of staying power of all the products I mention here, but I like to use them to dab on color. It’s easy to control the level of intensity, and for that I love them. Plus, they are nice and creamy and smell yummy, like vanilla cookies, too!

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Mama & Creeper, and Ultra Metallic Lip in Kween

From Left to Right: Mama, Creeper, Kween

I prefer a more natural lip, which is why I’m torn on Colourpop liquid lipsticks. If you like bright, in your face color, you’ll absolutely love these. The staying power is so, so good but they never feel dry. To get an idea of how well they stay on, here’s my swatch arm after rubbing it down with water and a little soap.

ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip Sticks in Mama and Creeper stay on FOREVER.

Mama and Creeper look gorgeous on. Mama is a deep burnt orange and Creeper is a blue-based red, like Clique (which means it’s a great liner/lip stick combo).

I couldn’t resist picking up one of the metallic colors, Kween. I’ve noticed it dries out quicker than the colors but it’s still a super cool color. I can’t picture myself wearing this one out much, but I’m glad to have it in my arsenal.

KathleenLights, one of my favorite YouTubers, frequently collaborates with ColourPop to create colors and she has some really good review videos. Check them out!
